Help save the pretty things...Some of you may have already heard about the new upsetting new laws passed. If not, basically the CPSC passed with good intentions, but not thought through Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act , which is requiring costly mandatory testing on ALL handmade children's products. In 2 months, if you don't act on this NOW the handmade products we all love will no longer be available. This means that most of the lovely products featured here on Simple Me Boutique will no longer be available and considered illegal to sell. Whether it's a hair bow, child's shirt, sling or a toy... They will be put to a end.
Cool Mom Picks did a great job of explaining this HERE.

We are asking for your help to keep the handmade community alive. Here's what you can do:

-Find your congress person and senators and write a letter like the sample here, particularly if they serve on the consumer protection subcommittee.
-Send a letter directly to the CPSC.
-Join the Handmade Toy Alliance and check out their proposed changes to the act which make a whole lot of sense.
-Spread the word to everyone you know who cares about helping the little guy, particular in today's economy.

About The Nielson's
On Aug. 16, 2008 Christian and Stephanie (Nei) & Doug Kinneard, the flight instructor were in a plane crash in Arizona. Doug passed away after arriving at the hospital but Stephanie and her husband are in critical condition in the burn center in Phoenix Arizona. They both have substantial burns covering most of their body. They have months of surgeries and the medical bills are expected to be in the millions.

They currently live in Mesa, AZ & have 4 beautiful children.

Like most of you, I have never met Stephanie or her family. Over the past few weeks I have been touched her story. Her blog reflects who she is a mother, a wife, a sister & a friend. The more I read, the more humbled I've become. Her faith & the love for her family truly inspire me.
